Holy Family Healthcare's César Chávez Home program helps migrant families "settle out" (establish themselves permanently) in our area by assisting them in finding housing and/or employment, as well as providing them with household necessities such as appliances, beds and bedding, tables and chairs, cook- and tableware, linens, etc.
Four families numbering 29 members settled here in the past year, and we are currently helping three more families with this process. Although this and all other programs run by Holy Family Healthcare are funded by the revenue generated by our medical practice and a few general donations by individuals interested in supporting our mission, we recently received an individual contribution to be used specifically to buy beds for families who he had heard were sleeping on the floor.
We are increasing our efforts to share the stories of those we serve to help generate this type of response, namely, to provide opportunities for individuals to share of their time, talent, and treasure to benefit those in need. We have and will continue to expand our online presence via our website and social media outlets such as interaction with those who "like" our Facebook posts. There is a basic human need to give; reach out today and explore how best to do that by calling us or emailing "development@holyfamilyhealthcare.org".
